Firmware Release Notes

The MUGIC® is a wireless motion sensor that streams your movement — orientation, rotation, and acceleration — into music and creative software in real time.

Version 2.2.2

  • Each mode keeps its own data format. WiFi, Bluetooth and USB now each remember their own output format, so switching modes with a double-tap no longer leaves the wrong format behind (for example ASCII still on after going from USB back to WiFi). USB sends ASCII or JSON (ASCII by default; OSC is binary and isn't sent over USB), WiFi sends OSC, JSON or ASCII (OSC by default), and Bluetooth sends OSC. If your MUGIC was left on ASCII in WiFi mode, set it back to OSC once in the configurator.
  • More detailed logs. Mode and format changes, and who requested them, are now recorded in the device log, which helps us diagnose problems.

Version 2.2.1

  • Longer battery life over Bluetooth. The MUGIC® now uses its lowest Bluetooth transmit power by default. In our tests a full battery lasted about 4 hours in BLE mode instead of 3, with a range of about 15–20 ft with nothing in the way.
  • Adjustable Bluetooth power. The Bluetooth configurator has a new Set Bluetooth Power menu, from max range (battery life about the same as WiFi) to min range (the default, longest battery). The change applies right away and is remembered.

  • Stream over Bluetooth. A new BLE output mode sends the same OSC data over Bluetooth Low Energy, with no WiFi setup at all. Use the MUGIC® Bridge app on your computer to receive it; it forwards the data to port 4000 so Max, Ableton and the MUGIC® plugin work unchanged.
  • In BLE mode WiFi is turned off, which saves battery. Only the OSC format is available over BLE.
  • Double-tap Mode now cycles WiFi → BLE → USB (USB only when the cable is plugged in). The device restarts when entering or leaving BLE mode.
  • The mode LED flashes green quickly while waiting for the Bridge and slowly while sending data, like the purple WiFi client indicator.
  • Bluetooth transmit power raised for better range.

Version 2.1.7

  • Accurate battery level. Right after switching on, the MUGIC® could report its battery as 0% — and keep reporting it for up to five minutes — before its battery gauge had a real reading. It now ignores unusable readings and checks again every few seconds until it has a good one; the battery LED waits too.
  • No more accidental power-offs. A glitched battery reading can no longer make the MUGIC® think its battery is flat and switch itself off.

Version 2.1.6

  • Clearer diagnostics. The device's Metrics page now reports its loop timing as “Loop cycle time: 20 ms (50 Hz)” instead of a confusing raw value.

Version 2.1.5

July 2026 Rolled into 2.1.6
  • Reliable 50 Hz streaming. Fixed a rare case where, after certain restarts, the MUGIC® could fall back to half its intended data rate (25 Hz). It now always uses the standard 20 ms / 50 Hz default.

Version 2.1.4

July 2026 Download main-2.1.4.bin
  • A small follow-up to 2.1.3 that minimizes streaming interruptions while actively changing settings over Bluetooth or the web page.
  • Previously, to limit interactions, streaming was interrupted while a BLE or HTTP config page was open (even if idle).
  • Now, streaming is suspended only briefly (at most two seconds) while interacting with the config page, but not if the page is idle. Streaming remains suspended during OTA updates.

Version 2.1.3

July 2026 Download main-2.1.3.bin

The first firmware update since launch. It makes the MUGIC® more stable and dependable, and gives you more control over the motion data you send.

More reliable, everywhere

  • Fewer crashes and freezes. Fixed issues that could cause the device to hang, restart, or get stuck in a reboot loop — including during updates.
  • Steadier streaming. Motion streaming now pauses cleanly while you change settings, then resumes on its own.
  • Dependable activity logs. Logs save reliably, download in full for troubleshooting, and clear with a single tap.

More control over your motion data

  • Choose how acceleration is measured. Switch between linear acceleration (your movement only, with gravity filtered out) and raw acceleration (total force, including gravity) — whichever suits your instrument or software.
  • Custom data labels. Give your motion stream its own name so multiple MUGIC®s or channels are easy to tell apart in your software.

Easier setup

  • Smarter Bluetooth. Bluetooth turns on only when you need it and switches off when idle, so Wi-Fi streaming and battery life aren't affected.
  • Clearer configuration screen, with improved Wi-Fi labeling and a cleaner layout.

Version 2.0.1

The firmware your MUGIC® came with when you bought it. Streams motion over Wi-Fi (in the standard OSC format music apps understand) or USB, sends to multiple destinations at once, supports Bluetooth setup, full-color LED status, rechargeable-battery monitoring, and wireless updates.
